"Principle of One-China"... effective today

From today (July.1.2023), China's revised "Counter-Espiration Law," which specifically targets U.S.-based consulting companies that collect industrial information in China, will take effect.

However, the implementation of the revised Counter-Espiracy Law not only affects foreigners but also makes Chinese citizens cringe as it greatly expands the scope of espionage activities.

In particular, the definition of confidential information in this law has been expanded from "state secrets" to "national security-related information," greatly increasing its ambiguity.

There is no countermeasure against the artificial illegal detention of the Chinese authorities with "ear rings when hung on ears and nose rings when hung on nose."

Therefore, it should be noted that even individuals, businessmen, and government officials who wish to visit China can potentially be punished for day-to-day photography such as data collection, map storage, and even photography.

In other words, discretionary punishment such as fines or administrative detention is possible even if the grounds for prosecution are insufficient.

This is why our diplomatic authorities have once again asked Chinese residents and travelers to be careful.
