The fee for receiving public broadcasting in Korea can be paid separately from the 12th, and the notice of apartment and detached house residents is different

Currently, KEPCO's customer center number 123 says, "There is a comment that separate payment is possible"

However, the apartment management office argues that there is no way without KEPCO's official letter

Starting today, the Korean public broadcasting license fee will be able to be paid separately from the existing electricity bill and 2,500 won, which is the "TV broadcasting license fee (KBS·EBS)." However, the detailed payment method is expected to take some time depending on KEPCO's processing process for the time being.

Currently, the apartment management office says there is no other way than to present the agenda to the tenant representative meeting when an official letter or official request is received from KEPCO.

When I called the Korea Electric Power Corporation Customer Center (No. 123), there was a comment that the subscription fee could be paid separately right away, and when I talked to the person in charge,

"Starting today, we are directly explaining or sending an official letter to each apartment management office. In the next two to three days, all official documents will be delivered, or an explanation on how to 'separate payment of license fees' will be completed to each apartment management office."

Even if the enforcement ordinance of the TV Broadcasting System (KBS) payment is changed, the obligation of electricity users with TVs to pay the license fee remains unchanged under the Broadcasting Act. However, it has been regarded as an obligation to pay electricity bills rather than a "TV license fee" because it has been collected by integrating them with electricity bills regardless of the user's intention.

Therefore, KEPCO, an organization that collects electricity bills and TV reception fees, will not take compulsory measures such as power outages even if customers pay only electricity bills without paying TV reception fees.

Meanwhile, the government approved a revision to the Enforcement Decree of the Broadcasting Act at a Cabinet meeting yesterday, which requires TV license fees to be collected separately from electricity bills. As the president, who is traveling abroad, approved it with electronic approval, it will be promulgated and implemented immediately from today's 12th. As a result, the "integrated collection" system, which has been around for 30 years since 1994, has changed.
