The Opening of “2nd Reunification Forum to Open the Thoughts of People”

Global Sharing Love Association (Chairman Byung-Jae Chun) and Woori Economic Cooperation (Chairman Tae-Hun Jung) co-organized “2nd Reunification Forum to Open the Thoughts of People” on November 6th at 2pm in the international conference room at the Incheon Culture and Arts Center.

More than 120 people, including Chairman Byung-Jae Chun (Global Sharing Love Association), Chairman Hang-Jun Park (Woori Economic Cooperation Association), President Joo-Won Suh (Sudokwon Landfill Site Management Corp.), lawmaker Young-Gil Song (Democratic Party of Korea), Deputy Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City Jong-Sik Heo, participated in the forum, making the event more meaningful.

Chairman Byung-Jae Chun said, “This forum is to encourage people to think deep and empathize with others, creating a public sympathy for healing and recovery. It aims to understand the current situation of farming and livestock industry in North Korea, which could help the country lead the development. This forum is held to come up with measures and find ways to cooperate with the North in many areas such as renewable energy.

President Joo-Won Suh (Sudokwon Landfill Site Management Corp.) said that “Communicating and cooperating with the North has now become a trend that we cannot go against. Therefore, active inter-Korea exchange and cooperation will be a valuable foundation. Through today’s seminar, I hope to have in-depth discussions on the role of Incheon, which is located at the border of North Korea. I also wish that this will serve as an opportunity to prepare for exchange and cooperation in the future.”

Lawmaker Young-Gil Song gave a presentation for 30 minutes under the theme of “Moon Administration and North Korea’s Economy: Focusing on inter-Korean Economic Cooperation.”

His talked about various issues and the presentation drew a lot of attention. Issues included Moon Administration’s New North Policy, North Korea’s economic cooperation with China, New North Policy and One Belt One Road Initiative, North Korea’s economic cooperation with Russia, inter-Korean and US-North Korea talks, and trilateral cooperation between the North, South and Russia.

Second speaker, Jong-Sik Heo, Deputy Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City, talked about “West Sea Peace Cooperation and the Role of Incheon.” He revealed that “Incheon is located near the border of North Korea. In the beginning of next year, Incheon Metropolitan City will start designing to construct New Peace Highway that connects Yeongjongdo, Haeju and Kaesong. Also, connecting Nampo city is under a negotiation.” 

Vice chairman Hang-Jun Park (Woori Economic Cooperation Association) attracted participants’ attention by introducing Reunification Hanwoo Fund.

He said that “We are planning to raise the fund for 3 times with cattle, sheep, goat and pig, collecting the total of KRW 160 billion in reunification livestock fund. To do so, we are trying to do consignment bread in the North.” He also projected that “We will be able to make good a result by utilizing the South’s capital and the North’s professionals and facilities.”

Other than these speakers, Boo-Seop An, the former Secretary of Reunification Forum of Christian Council, talked about “Alternatives to North Korea’s Farming” and Hyun-Hwa Lee, CEO of Hanvit D&S, gave a presentation on “Renewable Energy for the Future of the Korean People.”
