This is really worrying... Take a look at the real-time data showing how hard the virus hit to the global economic activity

Restaurants, cinemas, shops, roads, flights and energy use illustrate sharp slowdown:

- vehicular traffic has at least halved in many of the world’s largest cities (also, rides with Uber & Lyft are down at least ~20%)

 - flight numbers have dropped more than 20% (this has heavily impacted businesses like Airbnb, which bookings last week were down YoY around 95% in Asia, 75% in Europe - the company’s biggest market - and 50% in the US)

 - spending in restaurants has halted

- cinemas sales have collapsed

 - energy consumption is down 15-20%

What is interesting is that the effects began to be felt even before nationwide lockdowns were implemented across parts of Europe and the US.

I don't want to be a prophet, but what we see now is that the impact of the various western world shutdowns means that at its peak the Covid-19 impact on the global economy might probably be worse than the peak of the financial crisis.
