It was an inspiring week at the #WEF in #Davos. Here are my reflections:

2020 the Year for Real Change?

Whilst often heavily criticised for being out of touch with reality, if action follows words, then 2020 could see real change. From Blackrock’s Larry Fink addressing investment in climate responsible business to Microsoft’s Satya Nadella’s aim to negate Microsoft’s carbon footprint.

Blockchain beyond the hype

Blockchain has suffered from buzzword paralysis, but now we are seeing useful, real solutions and long term will see some huge impact; it will see a new form of collaboration and value creation, unlocking economic potential far beyond what is on offer today.

We Are Hackable Animals

A particular highlight was Tristan Harris and Yuval Noah Harari’s panel where they discussed the trust deficit; from not having agency over our minds - “Humans who believe their minds can’t be hacked are the most vulnerable,” to data colonialism and digital dictatorship - “We need a discussion about who owns political data, like in the past we discussed about who can own land or factories”. In all cases the challenges require a restoration of trust.
