Interview/’Original Protocol’ Suggest share economy without broker

Origin Protocol is a block chain team with main office in San Francisco in America. They are targeting to create share economy market on top of Ethereum and IPFS (web protocol for de-centralization of data). In addition, developers and companies grant authority to create the de-centralized market for block chain. Daily Coin News has interviewed Origin Protocol team (Co-founder, Matthew Liu, Head of Partnership Coleman Maher, Kay yoo Finance & Operation, Mila Choi, Korean community manager) who visited main office (Gangnam station in Seoul) on September 20th (Thursday) for about an hour sharing details about Origin Protocol.

 

Please briefly introduce Origin Protocol.

Matthew: Origin Protocol establishes decentralized market place with the peer to peer (Internet platform brokering transactions between individuals) on block chain. In addition, they are activating brokerage platform between individuals in our block chain with different strategies from other companies.

 

What are the background and goals of Origin Protocol?

Matthew: According to when Internet was globalized, there was a power that connected people. However, Internet is currently generalized making people separate with each other and settling the system in the centralized form by the website. There was no peer to peer method that Origin Protocol intended to find. Therefore, our focus is on the development of share economy of block chain technology that can be de-centralized and also the peer to peer formation.

 

I heard that there were many of the strict conditions for recruiting investors for Origin Protocol tokens. What is the reason to apply such strict criteria?

There are two reasons. First of all, we were looking at people who accurately understood the intention of our company instead of the investment and could help us with them. Secondly, we were looking at those who could spend a long time supporting our success. In addition, we were invested by the most famous and the best capital companies. Pantera Capital in America and HASHED and GOPAX Streami in Korea are our investors. As for individual investors, we are making a great tie with CFO of Carry Protocol. In addition, as we abided by the laws in America for recruiting investors, there was a limit for having investment from individuals.

Origin Protocol is partnering with many of the companies, coin teams, Pin-tech companies, and capital companies. What made you think that those great companies and teams concluded partnership with Origin Protocol?

First of all, many of the investors were able to share our mission. They seem to figure out how our mission well suits with the circumstantial conditions of block chain. Secondly, one of the six founders of Paypal is our current senior engineer, and many of the well-known people who worked for Dropbox and Youtube are with our team. One reason is that they had high opinion on the value and pride of our team. Third, we showed our prototype to investors. Instead of introducing us with marketing, we appealed them with our technology that might have brought us a positive result.

 

Origin Protocol is pursuing the activation of de-centralized market place and share economy without brokers. What is the core technology of Origin Protocol to achieve such goals? And how to realize such technology?

Origin Protocol is currently establishing the platform for the developers. They are making the foundation with focus on mobile wallet in block chain. Shortly speaking, core technology is for developers to create market on the platform. 

 

The period for realizing the main net on roadmap of Origin Protocol is very short compared to other coin project teams. What is the basis for making main net in such a short period of time?

We decided that it was better to create our output as fast as we could. We thought it would be better to launch earlier and send our products to investors as soon as we could. Our main nets are divided into three versions. Between every mission, engineering team is able to supplement technical issues and continuously develop them. In addition, team members’ experience at Paypal, Dropbox, and Youtube before working at Origin Protocol are the basis for realizing the main net in a short period of time.

What are the advantages of Origin Protocol Team compared to other coin teams?

The biggest difference is that they have much experience from other global companies before working for Origin Protocol. In addition, other coin teams focus more on the fund marketing, but we are spending more time on the technical development. Our report is issued every week, and GitHub can see our open source. In addition, update is fast showing the technical development.

 

Korean investors are interested in Origin Protocol Team visiting in Korea. How do you think of Korean market? Are there specific plans on Korean market?

Korea has very fast technical development as well as crypto-currency transactions. They are ranked on top 3 or 4, and this is one reason why they need to visit Korea. In addition, Korea has a good environment for investment foundation. Seen in this meaning, Korea is a very important market.

In addition, community is very important. We will have meet-up continuously so that our users are able to create output from Origin Protocol and establish the business foundation beyond the development for creating decentralized market on developer community and proceed them with many of the Korean companies.

Matthew, what is your philosophy? What view do you have and how do you want to contribute to the society and coin ecosystem?

Our philosophy is ‘long term focus.’ It takes time to realize our vision. However, we will take fast steps and achieve our project in a short amount of time. This is our philosophy.

Secondly, it is the transparent and open community. Instead of hiding our development and token policies, I want to share our progress with investors with open information.

Lastly, we will consider how to create bigger values for users showing the progress of development of our products and deriving true values.
