Financial Times Wealth Management Summit in London

A highly interesting exchange of views during the panel session at the Financial Times Wealth Management Summit in London. The themes of the panel revolved around the technological developments that are markedly changing the way clients are serviced by wealth managers/family offices. Evidently technology will never completely replace the face to face customer service but can be intelligently used to facilitate the ease of dramatically improving customer experience. This can be by achieved by providing ease of access to real time investment information and equally so may dramatically improve the frequency of communication with clients. In my contribution, I spoke on the key factors driving jurisdictional preference for business. The decision primarily in my view primarily revolves around four Ls - Location of the investments, sophistication of the Legal and regulatory infrastructure, Logistical access to and from the jurisdiction, and last but not least, the Lifestyle in the jurisdiction. Other factors include the ease of access to the regulator, time to market, cost competitiveness and more importantly Innovation. Malta scores very highly in this regard.
