FintechWeek2019 in DC, the march of the suits, Oct 23, 2019. You know those goodie two shoes in college, who are as sycophantic as the word allows? This clique of mass adopters, aka #digitalsheep, are rabidly discussing regulations and compliance in blockchain and beyond, not knowing how far behind the innovation curve they are. 1. The suits don't want regulation. They want barriers to entry for small competitors. #SelfRegulationIsForBigBoys 2. The suits look at "the industry" from the lenses of, "We missed out on being #earlyadopters and #fastfollowers, how can we be the new #incumbents?" 3. The States remain 10 years behind, not only #blockchain but emerging tech as a whole. Suits can solve that but requires political will to fund and encourage innovation. 4. Not a single tshirt in the audience. Hence, doubt they're techies here. Just a gaggle of career bureaucrats who think they're about to be innovative but will functionally organize themselves and the structures they operate in just like their grandfathers did. 5. Think of these suits as "young" #goodoleboys, who have more members named "Chad" than women in leadership positions. 6 But hope remains.
