It has been reported by Bloomberg that the former CEO of the world's largest mining company, Jihan Wu, has taken out employees from Bitmain and started a virtual crypto-startup, Matrixport.

Jihan Wu took office as CEO of the newly established startup Matrixport. According to Ge Yuesheng, Matrixport provides OTC trading, rendering and custodial services for digital assets.

Woo Ji Han and other members moved to Matrixport this Monday, when Bitmain was in financial trouble in line with the virtual currency downturn in January.

Matrixport, based in Singapore, has about 100 employees--many of whom are from Bitmain. In addition, the following is said about the relationship between Matrixport and Bitmain:

"We have been closely connected to Bitmain since the beginning. They are partners rather than competitors because they are each targeting different business models," Woo Ji Han said.

Matrixport is expected to expand its business to target China's virtual currency mining by utilizing expertise and networking acquired through Bitmain. Matrixport also has a foothold outside mainland China to avoid virtual currency regulation in Beijing.
