The Wall Street Journal reported that major payment companies such as Visa, Mastercard, Paypal, and Uber Technologies in the U.S. decided to provide support for cryptocurrency Global Co., which is published by Facebook, and they will invest about $100 million (11 billion won).

The investments by the four companies will be used for Facebook's independent "Global Coin" project. In addition, with Facebook's own community standing at 2 billion people worldwide, the addition of global payment companies such as Visa, Mastercard, Paypal and Uber may be an alternative to the cryptocurrency market for Facebook, which currently is experiencing an identity crisis in terms of its business scalability at this stage.

Global Coin is known to advocate a "stable coin" that is linked to the legal currency, but the target is reportedly continuing to contact the central bank of each country to go beyond US dollar and convert to legal currencies of diverse countries.

Meanwhile, if Facebook releases its whitepaper on the 18th, it will likely reveal the exact outline of the global coin project, which has been ambiguous and speculative at the most.

As a result, the participation of the world's leading social networking service such as Facebook, Instagram, WattsApp, Telagram, Line and Kakao in the cryptocurrency market will also draw attention to what kind of changes will be made in the cryptocurrency market, which has not been seen positively by the governments
