The post office will start blockchain insurance claim system within the year

The post office's insurance claim system will be changed to a block chain based system by the end of the year.

Korea Post will hold a bid for the block-chain based insurance claim system computer equipment through the Korea Online EProcurement System from April 16to 18.

The project, which is going to be worth about 300 million won, is going to build computer equipment that is applied with block-chain technology. It is expected that the build period will be around 105 days.

Since August last year, the Korea Post has established a block chain-based smart insurance claim system with Kyobo Life Insurance. However, because it provides that can only be used in few hospitals such as Suncheonhyang Hospital, they decided to establish its own system in order to expand its block-chain-based insurance claim system to large hospitals.

According to the Korea Post Office, the system will allow post office insurance customers to claim small amounts of insurance from smartphones right after receiving hospitals bills. If this works, there is no need to receive a variety of documents such as a certificate and a prescription and submit them to the post office.

The Korea Post Office said, "Postal insurance customers will be able to claim insurance without receiving multiple documents by the end of this year."
