A revolutionary attempt will emerge in the music industry. K-Pop powerhouse HYBE and global record label Geffen Records will jointly showcase the world's first global girl group competition to lead the music industry.

The young talents from all over the world broke through a 6,000-to-1 competition among more than 120,000 applicants after HYBE and Geffen first announced in November 2021, and the 20 multinational unknown music groups are made up of various female members based in the U.S., all striving to gain a solid position through K-Pop practice and development.

The collaboration project was announced last Monday, and HYBE and Geffen unveiled a project called 'The Debut: Dream Academy'.
The audition event will be broadcast live on YouTube and will be broadcast as a Netflix documentary series later. During the competition, a panel of experienced experts in the industry will give important feedback, allowing fans to vote through platforms such as TikTok and Weverse.

The audition for the project "The Debut: Dream Academy" will be completed by the end of this year, and the official names of the final winner and the new girl group will be announced.

HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk said at a press conference related to the project.

"I wanted to form an international group based on the K-Pop methodology in order for K-pop to be known to the world as a true mainstream that removes 'K'."

"We believed we needed a capable partner to do this. When I met John [Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Interscope Geffen A&M], we certainly felt a momentary connection between musically and creatively."

"We take great pride in the achievements we have achieved and the amazing talents we have found. We are proud of the opportunity we created in the K-Pop world."

Janick also explained the background as follows.
"Our collaboration with Bang over the past two years is based on a shared belief in artist development, music and creativity. Developing a global group with Bang at the pinnacle of the K-Pop methodology and working with our Geffen team is really special and will give music fans an unprecedented music experience."

"Each candidate has incredible talent, dedication, and strong competence, making it an exciting moment for music fans."

To this end, HYBE directly established a training center in Los Angeles, the United States.
Meanwhile, JYP also selected 11 candidates for "A2K," a local girl group production project in the U.S. with Republic Records under Universal Music Group, in the middle of last month.
