A virtual currency, Bitcoin Cash is being used to support large-scale Hong Kong protesters triggered by the "Fugitive Ordinance," Forbes reported. The virtual currency's borderless remittance system is once again drawing attention.

Hong Kong has been protesting the removal of the so-called "Fugitive Ordinance" proposal since June, continuing a demonstration involving millions of people, the largest-ever demonstration since its return to China in 1997.

As the protests continue, a donation campaign using Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is spreading in Hong Kong, where about 42 virtual currency ATMs are installed. In addition, Bitcoin cache addresses have been printed on umbrellas and water bottles used by the crowd, prompting donations.

Users who own virtual currency can easily donate Bitcoin cash by simply scanning QR codes at specific addresses. Furthermore, just scanning this QR code, which has been exposed to the media, can make donations anywhere in the world.

Although the actual amount of money raised has not been much, it is drawing attention that the use of the funds from the virtual currency has been carried out across the border.
