Central Banks in Each Country Closely Monitors Facebook's New Virtual Currency, Libra

Mark Carney, the president of the Bank of England, said central banks and regulators in major countries want to monitor Facebook's virtual currency "Libra" project.

"We need to be safe," he said in a BBC interview aired on Monday. "Otherwise, it won't be realized," he said, indicating the prospect of direct monitoring by the Bank of England, the Federal Reserve, all major central banks and regulators. "The Financial Action Watch (FCA) will play a major role among them," he remarked.
