Local media reported that the European Criminal Police Agency (Europol) has developed a cryptocurrency crime analysis game to train investigators specialized in criminal activities regarding cryptocurrency, which is a new problem due to the its rapid spread.

On June 12th-14th, Europol announced its game of tracking and analyzing cryptocurrency at the sixth meeting on cryptocurrency measures at the organization's headquarters. Such activity is currently under development and will be officially jointly held by the Europol and the International Criminal Police Organization in October.

Developed together by the European Criminal Police Agency and the Center for Research in the Study of Excellence in Terrors, Resilience, Intelligence and Organised Crime Research, the game is said to allow investigators to have a virtual experience of real problems related to the criminal investigation of cryptocurrency.

While the project has the advantage of generating interest from investigators who crack down on cyber crimes as well as training, it is said that it is designed to be applied directly to field investigations through actual scenarios to counter the cleaning of cryptocurrency. money laundering, phishing, theft and various potential scams in the industry.

In the current market, tracking cryptocurrency acquired through illegal means is not easy. Transactions are recorded as blockchain passthru, when the currency is distributed over several different Wallets, the dirty currency is mixed with clean currency or moved back after being fully refunded to other forms of virtual currency. For this reason, chasing the flow of criminal activity is often met with a stonewall.

Thus, law enforcement agencies in each country take virtual money-related crimes seriously. For example, Europol and the Netherlands' Finance and Economy Information Inspection Agency (FIOD) forcibly investigated 'Bestmixer.io' in May for laundering more than $200 million in cryptocurrency.

Furthermore, the detection and closure of the "Wall Street Market" on the Dark Web has also taught law enforcement agencies many lessons for cryptocurrency-related crimes. The site's operator was arrested in May for allegedly stealing more than $14.2 million worth of assets from users and institutional investors.

While the development of the European Criminal Police Organization's training game means that law enforcement agencies will launch a full-fledged monitoring system on the market, cryptocurrency is also at the starting point to settle in the autonomous market.
