Differently from what most people imagine, the impulse to research on #AI did not come from the computer field but from the biological one. In 1969, infact, some students and researchers of the Carnegie Institute of Technology created a project, called DENDRAL, which helped chemists to identify unknown organic molecules, analyzing their mass spectra and using chemistry knowledge.
